they say it's your birthday
well, it's my birthday, too.
yeah, 33 years ago right now (at 8:38am), my mother was in labor with me. rumor has it there was a snowstorm (who's winter birth story doesn't include huge amounts of snow?). my grandma tells me she was bowling when she got the call over the PA system. heh-heh.
so, in celebration of this mediocre life, i thought i'd try to remember what i had done on past yearly milestones.
-4: no idea
i spent my 5th birthday in a hotel, because we were moving from PA to MI. i remember getting a huge stuffed Bugs Bunny that was as big as i was. i think i may have also gotten money from the housekeepers at the hotel, for helping them clean rooms. hey, i was helpful even at a young age, what can i say?
no idea. i do remember my sister's first birthday. i was 6.5 and i made her a cake with my easy bake oven. and she proceeded to get it over every square inch of her body. hi-larious.
 i think i had a scooby-doo-shaped cake.
i vaguely remember sitting at the kitchen table in our newly-renovated kitchen/garage. i was looking out our sliding glass door, watching drifting snow blow around out above-ground pool.
i got a diary, culotts and a matching striped shirt. i also remember having a headache the whole day. it's weird the things that come back to you. i think the weather was also rainy and dreary, but at least it wasn't snowing.
i got my first 10-speed bike. it was such a cheap piece of shit, while my dad had a fuji. i wasn't expecting a $500 bike, but something that wouldn't rust the first week i had it would have been nice. anyway, i remember the weather being about 55-60 and drizzly, but i got to ride it around a little bit. i think i also got a gold necklack, which i still have.
-12: no idea
i think i had a skating party with my friends. i remember sitting in the addition in hoffman estates with a bunch of girls, only one of whom i still talk to. we had eaten cake and then were going to go to the roller skating rink.
i think i had a pizza party this year. we had a double oven, so we invited my friends over and we all made our own mini pizzas. it was a pretty cool idea, i have to say. we had a whole bunch of toppings and we had both ovens going. good times. i think i also got the Big White One and the Little Brown One as gifts. those are stuffed teddy bears to you not in the know. i still have the Big White One (now the Big Gray One) and i just donated the Little Brown One to charity. like last week.
-19: not a clue.
my parents sent me a cookie bouquet. it was awesome. that was the last group present i got before they got divorced.
one of my professors took me and a bunch of my friends all out to dinner at Chi Chi's (i know) under the rouse that it was a year celebration since his heart attack. i left my ID at the school, so i couldn't get anything to drink. steve, who was 22, got a pina colada. manly. then, i got a ride back to the art school with the professor who ended up professing that he had a huge crush on me and had been the one sending me all these love emails anonymously. he had known it was birthday and that was the real reason for us all going out to dinner. i was alone. in. his. car. with. him. happy birthday.
at disney world with steve and annette. we saw the muppet pirate movie and steve paid for pizza hut pizza.
-29: no idea. i'm sure i have documentation, but i am unable to recall details at this time. anyone out there remember?
i had a meltdown due to phil's incompetence regarding planning ahead. after destroying the kitchen, i disappeared to work (on a saturday), where phil managed to track me down. not only was he supposed to plan my birthday, but as of 2pm nothing had been cleaned, baked or prepared and he was off in the 'burbs with his dad and sister. i called off the party and broke it off. the next weekend, i invited my close friends out to dinner at the italian place across the street. and then dancing.
suprise sex toy birthday party. my first surprise party ever. and i had run into the sex toy chick at the front gate. so much for that surprise, but it was awesome nonetheless. it had been arranged by scott, annette, kristin and my sis, i do believe. it was a ton of fun!
uh, this was just last year and i cannot, for the life of me, remember it. little help?
 who the hell knows?
