tornado damage
Thursday night, the chicagoland area had some interesting weather. wednesday, it was 45 degrees and boring and gray. thursday, it was 70 degrees, humid as all hell and rainy, with thunderstorms in the morning and a chance for severe weather in the evening. i was working that night at my glass-filled library, so i was especially anxious to see what Mother Nature would bring.
what she brought killed two people and injured 22 with an EF-4 tornado that ripped through about 45 miles west of us. Scott and i went out today to survey the damage. due to road closures in Fairdale, IL, we didn't try to go there. we instead went out US-20 and down to US 64, hoping to catch a stripped tree or something. we got a lot more than that.
