thanksgiving is this thursday. can someone please tell me where the hell this month went, let along October and September? Thanksgiving is the earliest it can be because the 1st fell on a Thursday. but still. i was at the store this morning getting my ever-so-healthy donut for breakfast when i thought, "shit, i gotta get cranberries." i feel like i should have another week to worry about my orange-cranberry sauce. nope. this. fucking. thursday.

at least it's a three day week. work has been a little slow for everyone lately. we're in between due dates, so we're all just trying to stay busy. of course, it's hard to stay busy when you get in at 7:30am. i'm not even the first one here in the mornings. i came in today to find the lights off in the area where i sit. i flick them on and walk past Chris's desk, saying, "time to wake up!"

"awwww. Mom's here!" he replies.

Har har. i just find it hard to read my emails (and maybe do a little knitting) in the dark. i get to my desk. put my 800 pound backpack down, put down my precious donut, take off my coat, get out my wallet, grab my tea and my mug and head down to the cafeteria. this is my morning ritual. i really really really want to eat that donut, but i can wait until i get my tea.

i come back and sign into my computer. load up all the software i'll be using throughout the day: InDesign, MSN Messenger, email, safari, firefox. i eat my donut and surf the web. there's not much to read... i already read the news and checked my email while i was in bed this morning. so i read a little while. i check my work email, do a little work, so back to reading. i think, "maybe i'll knit a little while." naw. i have a conference call i'll save that for at 10am.

i don't really have any plans for today, at work or at home. i'll go out for lunch and probably get sushi. i was thinking about heading down to the lake in Wilmette and enjoying the empty beach. it's supposed to be almost 60 today, may as well enjoy it while i can. no meetings scheduled this afternoon. i'll go work out at Bally's, aka LA Fitness. i only ran once last week... gotta get going on that. this weight ain't gonna come off by itself. hell, if i keep eating donuts for breakfast, it's not going to come off at all.

tonight i'll probably knit. i may attempt another loaf of honey whole-wheat bread. i made a second loaf last night and it fell. ka-boom, the top caved right in. i read on the internet it might be because there's too much yeast. this one guy reduced his yeast by 2/3 and his bread came out perfect. maybe i'll eat the second loaf before starting a third.

i'll probably knit. i should study. my classes are almost over, thank god. i thought taking an online class would be easier than dragging my carcass out of the house when it's cold, but alas, i was wrong. i'm just not getting the whole coding thing when it comes to JavaScript. i realize that it's not going to just stick in my head for my instant recall, but i have no patience. plus, i don't have a book on it so i have no reference in case i want to do a javascript page. i can barely remember where the codes go. i'll probably just end up stealing code and using it for my own uses. the MySQL is easier and more intuitive than the AJAX. i'm planning on putting the php and MySQL to good use by building an online library. here's hoping i can actually do it.

oh, and i have about a million knitting projects to do. that was one thing i was going to do this morning was make a list of the things i owe people.

1. todd's brain hat
2. ruth's mitts
3. diane's shawl
4. jenny's gonzo hat
5. lisa's mitts
6. kelly's baby hats
7. andrea's hat

i feel like i'm missing something but it'll come to me. one of my friends on facebook wants to know if i can do a quilt, but she wants it by Feb and i'm not sure i have the time.

anyway, happy monday.
