life's annoyances

it's been a while since i've posted. not that i haven't wanted to post, but i just haven't had the time. i should keep a notebook of all of the things i want to bitch about, but i'm afraid i'd run out of paper after a day. so here are the things that are chapping my ass this week (and keep in mind, it's a PMS week):
1. the Gap Black Skinny Pant. yes, we need to accentuate thin people even more. they need more pants out there that are made for 10-year-old boys rather than women in their breeding years. and who is this really going to please? robert smith from the cure? i think that was the last time i saw a "skinny pant."
2. women's clothing in general. i saw an article in the trib online that was talking about model sizes and where women's sizing comes from. and as far as i could tell from the article, it comes from SPACE. it comes from no where. and NOT ONCE did they EVER say, "women's sizing is fucked up. an 8 doesn't mean anything. but men, they get it easy. a 32" waist is a 32" waist no matter where you go." no, they just said that every designer has their own idea of sizes. yeah, so i'm having a hard time being happy about weight loss when i know that the 8 i wore today was probably a 12 two years ago. i fit in a 6 dress at Ann Taylor Loft and a 12 at Calvin Klein. so that means if i want to buy anything online, i can't. fuck you, designers. and fuck you, women, for putting up with it.
3. microwaves with no kitchen timers. ok, how does this get past the engineer's quality control check list? "let's put in all these electronic gizmos and NOT put in a timer!" That's a great idea! assholes.
4. lugging a 31 pound microwave home, unpacking it, finding out it doesn't have a timer, packing it back up, lugging it back to target, finding another microwave after 3 stores, lugging it out to the car, lugging it up 3 floors. yeah, i'll read boxes from now on. and somehow i'll know to look for things that should be obvious.
5. people who get to make policies at companies but obviously don't know dick about how to make things work. nor do they know what their employees want or need.
6. those people also make a shit-ton of money. assholes.

i'm sure i'll have more, but it's time for bed.

Completely untrue. Who knows when they measure the fabric or what steps are in place to insure that the patterns are followed scrupulously, but you have to try on every individual pair of pants no matter what the tag says (some manufacturers are better than others, but they're also significantly more expensive). Inseam is even worse because the longer expanse of uninterrupted fabric tends to shrink more. And the shrinkage varies widely between different fabrics and different cuts.

I know it's kind of a minor point to niggle over, but I've had to do some shopping recently and I _despise_ shopping, so it's lingering in my mind.
