CTA clusterfuck
last night, as i lay in bed at midnight, i thought briefly about just going into work then and sleeping at my desk in order to avoid the inevidible rush on the train that next morning. see, today is the day they're starting to shut down tracks and try to make the CTA a better system for the 1,000 people who are handicapped in this city (not including mothers). they have been warning us for months that the hammer of inadequecy was going to come down april 2, and here we are.
so i got up with one peal of the alarm. i got in the shower before scott. i dried my hair, pressed the last hint of body out of it, got dressed and bolted out the door. this was at 6:35. if i can leave that early, i'll drive. and i can also charge my iPod while i do it. i noticed along the way, people in bright green vests, directing traffic at the more congested intersections (this would have made me happy had they actually been able to prevent the 3 cars that went through the red light at lincoln, belmont and ashland). so i got to the fullerton station at about 6:50 (after hitting every useless red light on an almost-empty lincoln ave) and i get to the train station. there are about 10 CTA employees in the station. this is about 8 more than are usually there. on the platform, there are at least 10 green-vested security people, holding fliers and clipboards.
so i think, this is the way the CTA is going to handle the crowds today-by putting more people on the platforms? so they can hand out a flier that says, "sorry you put your trust in the CTA. now you're fuct" when people start getting unruly? what did they think? that us CTA riders had no idea this was coming down the pipeline? that we actually thought that Frank Kruesi knows what he's doing? do you really think we're that dumb? and how many tourists do you know that ride the CTA at 7am? fuck them anyway.
and you know what the CTA is doing to help besides putting useless takers of precious platform property at the stations? they say use alternate transportation. so, helping the CTA and their money woes by taking your car or your bike and not paying to ride chicago public transport will really help them out. they are the dumbest bunch of motherfuckers i've ever known.
i thought about riding my bike. but it's still too damn cold out. thanks, frank, for delaying this until the majority of us could walk or ride to the train or our work. thanks for closing down montrose and addison stations, tearing them down and then not doing a damn thing with them for 3 months. meanwhile, condos aren't going up fast enough. i say put the CTA in private hands and maybe this shit would get done in a timely manner. get this system out of the hands of that retard Kruesi and put in the hands of someone who might have managed a project or two in his or her lifetime. oh, and while you're at it, take daley out of office so maybe we can get a mayor who won't skim off the top and give important jobs to all of his frat boy dumbass friends. fuck this city.
