interview

i went on my interview at scott foresman yesterday. it was alright. it's up in glenview and i'm sure i would get tired of driving up there every damn day. but there's a metra train that stops about 6 blocks away from SF. and the place is huge! the HR woman told me that there were 16,000 employees working for their parent company, Pearson Education. jesus, that's a lot of people. she handed me the obligatory packet of crap that says everything about the company and the benefits. she said, "here, if you're having trouble sleeping at night..." oooh, a sense of dry humor! i was happy to see that not everyone was tightly buttoned down.

then i met the electronic manager. he was pretty cool. and he laughed at my extensive simpsons knowledge comment on my resume. i'm glad someone finally noticed it. he told me about the division i'd be working in and what i'd be doing. all pretty standard stuff. then i had to take an InDesign test. i got a little nervous at this point. i have been using InDesing for about 6 months and i was worried that i didn't know enough. so, i met an electronic supervisor, as she was going to be administering the test. it was a list of 35 things that i'd have to do in the program. and she was going to sit behind me and write down how i handled them. *gulp* talk about nerve wracking. but i think i did ok. there were a few things i didn't know, but i found that if i went to area where i thought they might be, the commands were usually there and i could fake it. all in all, i think i did pretty well.

alright, i must be going. i'm meeting a client. oooo, how cool!
