why do movies have to suck?

in the vast amounts of time that i am watching television, i see quite a few commercials. and one thing has really stood out lately: crappy, crappy movies. (i'm watching divorce court right now, but i'll confront that train wreck later.)

here is a list of movies that are coming out that just don't make sense:

Big Mamma's House 2
what's up with this? how could they get financing for this movie? the first one was bad enough, but a SECOND ONE? and how many times can i see a black guy dressed in drag? and if they're going to go that way, why can't i see rupaul? at least she's hot.

tyler perry's medea's family reunion
i am speechless. let me ask you all a question... if you were black (and i'm sure some of you are) why would you put up with this crap? african american freedom fighters have fought long and hard for equality for hundreds of years. then hollywood comes along and puts it all back in a matter of 90 minutes. what do black people do? they sit around dressed like women. they sexually harass real women. they yell out racial slurs. and if they're not dealing drugs, they're not doing anything. or they're being harassed into making rap albums. or they're playing basketball. because black people can't be portrayed as successful business people... that would be too forward-thinking of hollywood. it's crap and if i was black, i'd be pissed.

"Tsotsi" traces six days in the life of a ruthless young gang leader who ends up caring for a baby accidentally kidnapped during a car-jacking
"get rich or die tryin'" A tale of an inner city drug dealer who turns away from crime to pursue his passion, rap music

there are more, but i just don't have the room.

pink panther
i have a question for hollywood? why do you see the need to ruin perfectly good movies by remaking them? do you think we want to see steve martin as inspector clouseau? do you think we want to see anyone but peter sellers in that role? someone obviously thought it was a good idea. but the movie looks absolutely ridculous. and beyonce knowles??? isn't she a singer? hey, musicians, do me a favor? if you're in music, STAY in music. i'm so tired of seeing 50 cent and usher and all those "singers" popping up in my movies. pick a fucking industry and stay there.

when a stranger calls
yet another remake. and the commercial looks like the producers of 24 got a hold of the script. there's slashing and gashing and screaming and the chick in the movie looks even more clueless than carol kane. and does anyone who sees this commercial know that the commercial is based on the first 20 minutes of the movie? yeah, the "have you checked the children" is only the beginning. it follows that babysitter through her life 7 years later. but do they show that in the trailer? hell no. that way people might not think that this movie is 5000 frames a second.

i could go on, but i just don't have the energy. i just won't be spending any amount of money on any film in the near future.
