i see you

in a city of a million-plus people, i am always amazed when i see people i know on the street or on the train. so when i was standing on the red line, ass-deep in suits on their Sidekicks, i was so amazed when i saw liz at the other end of the train. i really tried hard to get her attention, staring at her intently, sending her mind-melding messages across the crowded train, but this curly headed dork was in my way. she was deep in her music, trying hard to ignore all the assholes surrounding her. just as i had been before i noticed the familar face.

i got off the train at belmont to transfer to the brown line. the train didn't leave right away, so i went and stood in front of the window and stared at her. i was wearing a bright red coat and considered jumping up and down, but then that would have just looked silly. but at that moment of desperation, she broke out of her reverie and saw me. i waved. everyone on the train must have thought i was a total retard (fuck them). we were exchanging a few words through the door when over the intercom came "can you please step away from the doors? i can't see down the platform." he was talking to me. with everyone on the platform and the train looking at me, i slowly stepped away, trying to make it seem like i would have normally done.
