Parties and BYOB

I've learned two important facts, thanks to liz's birthday party:
1. you can get amazingly drunk at a BYOB restaurant.
yes, they don't have liquor on hand, but that means you can bring whatever and however much you want. we started the night with 5 bottles of wine. we quickly went through those, so an extra trip was made to a near-by liquor store to purchase 3 more bottles.
2. riesling is an amazingly good wine.
i don't drink a whole lot. hard liquor is vile by my tongue's opinion and red and most white wines aren't that great either. but liz has introduced me to an acceptable alcohol: riesling. i can't say that i got drunk, but i was probably a little louder than i would have been had i not drank 2 or 3 glasses of the deliciously sweet nectar of the gods.
and poor liz had her apartment broken into, so the rule was that her glass was to never be left empty. the golden fluid kept flowing and she was pretty happy by the end of the night. and with 12 people drinking and eating and carrying on, most of us were happy by the end of dinner. chris (i hope that's how you spell it) had brought a thermos of red wine and had purchased an additional bottle of red during the mid-dinner liquor excursion. as gary said, "i didn't think they sold magnums of Yellowtail."
it was a great evening. the food was fantastic and relatively inexpensive and the ambiance was nice and peaceful, even if we were much louder than the other patrons. my sister and scott and i said that we would definitely have to return sometime soon.
see what a good time we had here.
