next blog

is my new favorite thing. i love to flip through the other blogs on this blog website and read the drivel that is other people's lives. but two things stand out to me as i do this:

1. 85% of the blogs that come up are in a foreign language
2. of the 15% that are in english, 95% of the people blogging are just boring as hell.

not to mention the blogs that mention the everyday happenings of some baby spitting up or some newly engaged or pregnant couple registering at Bloomies. maybe it's just my cynical mentality shining through. i mean, why would anyone want to read my boring statements about MY life?? i have no idea. maybe you've bookmarked my blog and come back and hope i've posted something witty about.... whatever. maybe you've hoped the coffee shop has gotten off the ground (it hasn't) or that i've decided what to do with my life (i haven't). more often than not, the people who are reading this are people i know. i have nothing to offer people outside of my line of sight.

anyway, i feel scorn at the people who think that posting 123482034 pictures of their kids is interesting. or that louis and sadie's marriage is going to be one that lasts through the ages. chances are that once they're hitched, that blog is history. that, or then they'll post 123482034 of their damn kids.

i don't know. i'm just rambling. and i wish there was a way to be able to flip through blogs that are just in english. or that there was a way to translate the ones that aren't.

i don't mean to bash. well, actually, i do. is there a pill that will prevent people from getting boring when they 1) get married, 2) have kids? because i don't want to become all about my wedding (if i do) or my kids (if i have any). i think i have this ache to be anything but *gulp* ordinary. everyone gets married. everyone has kids. it's so damn boring. it's like that great big eye in the sky said, "here's this path that you should walk. everybody does it. c'mon. it's not that bad!" of course, here i am, thinking, "if that person told you to jump off a cliff, would you do that?" if you got to wear a huge diamond ring and a white dress, a lot of chicks would say, "hell yeah!"

i guess i just don't understand the feminine mind. what's up with the "need" to have babies? they ruin your life and your marriage. sure, it's a cool accessory, but no one here in chicago really wants to have kids. they do it because their friends have done it. "hey, they have a BMW... i want one, too!" "hey, they get to wipe baby vomit and meconium off of their designer clothes... i want to do that, too!" it's all mind control and programming by the religious right who want you to think that we're dying out. hahahahahahahahaaaaa!!! that's a larf.

point is: i can see how boring people are becoming by bookmarking their blogs and reading about how their kid flubbed his lines in the nutrition play, or how david's bridal didn't have that exact shade of red she wanted for her bridesmaid dresses. it kind of makes me sick.
