spring in chicago

the last three days it's been hot. like burst-into-flames hot. like sweating-while-doing-nothing hot. it was 96 degrees on sunday, 90 yesterday and 86 today. but the cool thing about spring is the storms. they come on with lightning and thunder and rain and hail and they're great. and the cumulonimbus clouds that form when a storm is approaching are amazing. like this:

of course, if you are lucky enough to catch a bolt of lightning with your digital camera while a storm is coming in, it would look something like this:

rebuttal

so, some of you may have noticed that i took down that post of the chick and her wedding dress. it may have come off bitter and angry. i would like to state the following:

i am not bitter and angry about this chick getting married. i am bitter and angry that she has her parent's checkbook at her disposal to spend $7,000 on a single piece of clothing. that she will wear for ONE DAY.

if someone can point out the difference between a $500 wedding dress and a $7,000 dress, i would be more than happy to listen. of course, if you are the type of person who actually owns a pair of Manolo Blahniks, then your point of view may be a little different than mine. if you don't even know what those are, then send your opinion my way.

ok, go back to your regularly scheduled life.

Stolen from another blog lol......
I AM: rocking a pony tail because why bother doing anything with my hair the rain will ruin it anyway.

I SAID: these pretzels are making me thirsty

I WANT: to change the way social norms make women feel inferior. have you noticed that on every cover of "woman's day" magazine, they have a "lose weight now" headline, but inside they have fattening, fattening recipes? what's up with that?

I WISH: that i would find a job that would appreciate me for my strengths and pay me what i feel i'm worth

I HATE: insipid talk shows where people air their ridiculous personal dirty laundry for millions of people. oprah and dr. phil, you suck.

I MISS: my college days when i had my whole idealistic life ahead of me... and then chose to become an artist. what a waste.

I FEAR: never being able to rise to my full potential, either professionally or personally

I HEAR: scott laughing and quoting club dread.

I WONDER: how far ahead in the career game i would be had i played by the rules

I REGRET: not moving to california when i had the chance.

I AM NOT: going to take it

I DANCE: when i'm working the espresso bar at work. customers (and coworkers) think it's a hoot, but i just hate standing still.

I SING: in my car to my ipod. i secretly think i have a good voice, but i'm sure simon cowell would have very mean things to say to me.

I AM NOT ALWAYS: nice. and i sometimes get a thrill out of being a bitch. but usually when i think i'm right.

I MADE: quilts for my previously pregnant friends. i think i've made 4 or 5 so far.

I WRITE: because if i don't get it out somehow, my brain would explode. i've kept a journal since i was 13. not the same one, of course. i have several, one of which was breeched by a past boyfriend. ah, memories. i alternate between wanting to burn them and wanting to publish them. but so far they just sit in an old dusty milk crate.

I CONFUSE: cool water and curve all the time right after scott puts it on.

I NEED: more patience.

I SHOULD: keep in touch with more of my friends. in this electronic age, i find comfort in writing letters on paper and sending them through the mail. of course, i'd like to get some back, but that rarely happens.

I START: in second gear, if i can. complete stops are for pussies.

I FINISH: people's sentences. i hate that i do it, but it's a by-product of having a short attention span.

I BELIEVE: that organized religion is the opiate of the masses. if you follow like sheep, then you never have to think for yourself.

I KNOW: almost all of the actual titles to the simpsons episodes thru season 12

I CAN: clean and organize anything.

I CAN’T: play guitar and sing at the same time. it's very frustrating.

I SEE: people for who they really are very quickly. i really hate human nature.

I BLOG: because i'm self-righteous and egotistical.

I READ: mind-masturbation books mostly, with a true piece of literature thown in to make me feel smart.

I AM AROUSED BY: random little things

IT PISSES ME OFF: when people think that they deserve everything they want without having to work for it.

I FIND: random things that i didn't know i had when unpacking old boxes

I LIKE: crawling into bed after a long day.

I LOVE: not having to get up for work the next morning.

I TAG: blackest of hearts, mitre, chuckieeverdapper and anyone else who is bored on a cold may evening. thanks goes to Sammi2U for giving me something to do!

hopeless touting

ok, i work for starbucks, right? i'm not ashamed of it. and now i will shamelessly endorse the new product line they have.

banana everything.

i made a banana coconut frappuccino for a customer who had a free drink coupon. i intentionally made too much so i could sample some of it. man, it's like crack. you wouldn't think that banana, coffee and coconut would taste good, but someone in seattle has their finger on the pulse of my sweet tooth. they also have a non-coffee based drink, banana creme frappuccino. yeah. could i get mine in an IV form?

to make matters worse for my weight loss, they also have two banana pastries: chocolate chip banana coffee cake and banana creme crunch bar. both are divine. and if i had my way, i would only eat those two things for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

so, if you like banana, run right down and get a drink or a sweet. you won't regret it.

it's been long enough

ok, it's been about 2 weeks since i've posted. nothing pisses me off more than stalking someone's blog that i've saved the link to, only to find they update it maybe once a month. so... here i am, so satisfy my loyal audience. heh.

the only news i have to report is that i think we've finally gone through the majority of the boxes we moved. i found my paper towel holder, thank god. but i hate it when i move and i put things in places and say, "ok, now, don't forget where you put this." days go by and when i go to look for it, i can't find it. and they're things you don't use all the time, but need them to function eventually, like my cell phone charger and my digital camera battery pack. my ipod sync cord. tape measure. dust rag. road map (i still haven't uncovered that). but i know where my supersoaker is. and my napkin holder. it's all about priorities.

besides looking for strange stuff i thought i'd never need, scott and i spend our time separating our cats. they don't get along, to say the least. and we can never catch them in the act (to see who's starting it), but we always come in to witness puffs of cat hair and squealing cats hiding under beds and couches. but his cat, which is a male, officially got my cat, which is a female. we found an open wound on her back and had to make a $100 trip to the vet to get it looked at. bijou was shaved (only in that area) to reveal a recently broken absessed puncture wound from a claw or a tooth.

and when the vet stuck an irrigation needle into the wound, under my cat's skin, and squirted sterile liquid into it, scott almost passed out. it was then declared that i would do the irrigating from then on. so, now we have to cram a pill down my cat's throat twice a day and stick a plastic needle tip in her back. ah, it's like having children, except you can't tell cats to stay the hell away from each other. they just don't learn. we've already broken two supersoakers trying to teach them. so we're learning to live with the growling couches and beds and the hissing and yeowling. and if my cat shows up with any more open wounds, i'm turning loki into mittens.
